The session will be delivered by Ms. Smitha Menon, Senior Consultant, Verify Software, and will focus on the role of effective testing practices throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. Aligned with ISTQB Foundation Level - Chapter 2, the session will explore testing within different software development lifecycles, test levels and test types, and the significance of maintenance testing. Participants will gain practical insights into applying critical thinking to testing activities, understanding quality considerations across the software lifecycle, and developing an industry-oriented approach to software testing and quality assurance .

The Computer Society of India (CSI) presents an expert talk titled "Quantum Computing: Unlocking the Next Era of Digital Innovation." As classical architectures hit physical limits dictated by Moore’s Law, quantum computing marks a fundamental leap forward, moving beyond binary states (0s and 1s) to process complex calculations at unprecedented speeds. This session bridges theoretical physics and practical computing, exploring core quantum mechanics—superposition, entanglement, and quantum interference. Attendees will discover how qubits perform parallel evaluations to tackle problems that remain intractable for classical supercomputers. .

2 DAY WORKSHOP ON PIONEERING INNOVATION IN FRONT END DEVELOPMENT FOR DIGITAL ENTREPRENEURS

9-10 July 2025

Under the aegis of the Department of Computer Applications at Chitkara University, Punjab, the CSI Student Chapter organized a 2-day workshop titled "Pioneering Innovation in Front-End Development for Digital Entrepreneurs" from July 9-10, 2025 conducted by Dr. Amanpreet Singh, an Associate Professor, the session provided 73 participants with hands-on experience in modern front-end technologies and the Joomla Content Management System. Dr. Singh detailed the core building blocks of Joomla—including components, modules, plugins, and templates— and demonstrated how to develop sites locally before publishing them online using FileZilla. The workshop, which aligned with SDG4: Quality Education, covered essential topics such as site structure planning, user role management, and extension integration.

EXPERT TALK ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP: INNOVATION TO INCUBATION-THE START UP JOURNEY

On July 10, 2025, the CSI Student Chapter under the Department of Computer Applications at Chitkara University, Punjab, organized an offline expert talk titled "Entrepreneurship: Innovation to Incubation - The Startup Journey" at the Rockefeller Block. The session, which drew 215 participants and aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, was led by Mr. Piyush Garg, Vice President of Chitkara Entrepreneurship Education and Development. Mr. Garg delivered an insightful presentation on the evolution of innovative ideas into successful startups, emphasizing incubation as a critical bridge between ideation and enterprise formation. The discussion covered the essential stages of the entrepreneurial lifecycle, including idea generation, validation, funding, team building, and scaling, while also highlighting the robust startup ecosystem and support systems available in India. By sharing real-life success stories and discussing the importance of business models and mentorship, the talk inspired students to identify real-world problems and equipped them with the practical knowledge necessary to launch their own impactful ventures

CSI Student Chapter under the aegis of Department of Computer Applications, Chitkara University, Punjab, organized an Expert Lecture on “Innovations in Critical Aspects of Data Structures” on 23rd July 2025 in offline mode at the De Morgan Block, Chitkara University. The session was delivered by Dr. Nishu Bali, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Chitkara University. Dr. Bali introduced students to the evolving landscape of data structures and the role of innovation in enhancing their efficiency. The lecture emphasized various critical concepts including dynamic data structures, advanced memory management techniques, and algorithmic optimization strategies. Dr. Nishu also shared real-world use cases and insights into how innovations in data structures are applied in modern software systems, databases, and high- performance computing. WORKSHOP ON GENERATIVE AI: FOSTERING INNOVATION, CREATIVITY AND ENTREPRENEURIAL GROWTH

A hands-on workshop titled “Generative AI: Fostering Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurial Growth” was organized by the CSI Student Chapter of the Department of Computer Applications, Chitkara University, in collaboration with Grazitti Interactive. The offline event was held on 25 September 2025, from 12:00 PM onwards at Turing Extension LH-08. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Jaswinder Singh, Senior Manager (Learning & Development) at Skillstone, Grazitti Interactive. He provided an immersive learning experience into the world of Generative AI, moving beyond theory to focus on practical applications. Mr. Singh guided the students through the capabilities of modern Generative AI tools, showcasing how they can be leveraged to create novel content, streamline workflows, and spark innovative ideas. The session also placed a strong emphasis on the business landscape, highlighting how this technology is paving the way for new startups and fostering entrepreneurial growth. The session was held in offline mode on 4 November 2025, starting at 10:00 AM in Henry Ford Hall, Martin Luther Block. The session was delivered by Mr. Lalit Kumar, a Senior Software Developer at Techlive Solutions, Mohali. As an industry expert, Mr. Kumar provided a comprehensive overview of the critical role AI is playing in revolutionizing cybersecurity. He discussed how machine learning algorithms and AI models are being used to identify sophisticated cyber threats, automate security responses, and predict potential vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. CSI Student Chapter under Department of Computer Applications organized two days Workshop on Innovations in Data Management from 25.04.24 to 26.04.24. The recourse person of the workshop was Dr. Deepika Chaudhary, Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Chitkara University, Punjab. Resource person talked about strategies, technologies, and practices for handling data effectively and efficiently. Codethon Competition - Igniting Innovative Ideas Through Code

The CSI Student Chapter, under the aegis of the Department of Computer Applications, organized the highly anticipated "Codethon Competition - Igniting Innovative Ideas Through Code," a two-day innovative coding event that challenged participants to push the boundaries of web development using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS on 10th -11th , April, 2024. Over the course of two exhilarating days, students from various backgrounds formed teams and embarked on a coding odyssey, meticulously structuring web pages, crafting captivating designs, and breathing life into interactive applications. Participants worked together as a team, putting in countless hours of effort. Through their unwavering determination and creativity, they developed innovative web applications. As the event unfolds, exceptional performers receive prizes and awards, providing an extra incentive for excellence.

Innovative Practices using Design Thinking

CSI Student Chapter under the aegis of the Department of Computer Applications organized an expert talk on “Innovative Practices Using Design Thinking” on 7th August 2023 in offline mode. This talk was designed to provide students an oversight into the area of design thinking and innovation, which holds importance due to its holistic approach that connects business, logic, society and emotion. Design thinking also emphasizes user experience over the market, design over engineering and customer over product. The speaker of the session was Mr. Arisht Jain, Product Manager, Zenduit Mississauga, Canada. The expert talk was conducted to instill the design thinking skills in students. The session enabled students to understand the concept of design thinking and how it could be applied for better understanding of customer demands and improving on solution oriented products. It helped students understand that design thinking and innovation is not only for the known problems or solutions but for non-existent and unique things that the world needs.

Workshop on securing innovations using Intellectual Property Rights

CSI Student Chapter under the aegis of Department of Computer Applications, Chitkara University, Punjab organized Two Days Workshop on Securing Innovations Using Intellectual Property Rights. The Resource persons were Dr. Deepika Chaudhary, Professor, Department of Computer Applications and Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Applications, Chitkara University, Punjab. Dr. Deepika taught about how to inculcate design thinking and come up with unique ideas. She emphasized the need of ideas that should be beneficial to the society and human being. Dr. Jaswinder talked about various intellectual property rights. He also discussed the process of filling IPR. Students also drafted few unique ideas in the workshop. Through this workshop students learned how to secure intellectual assets and innovations. Students learned about applying critical thinking and designing for drafting Patent and filling process.

Industrial Visit (Bebo Technologies Pvt Ltd)

CSI Student Chapter under the Aegis of the Department of Computer Applications organized an industrial visit to bebo Technologies on Aug 12, 2023. The visit was attended by 48 MCA students, accompanied by two faculty members. Mr. Devender Guleria, (Manager, bebo Technologies, Chandigarh) greeted the students and faculty members. During the visit. Mr. Guleria provided overview of bebo Technologies' work process, highlighting the organization's latest and upcoming technologies. He also emphasized the essential skill set necessary for successful placement within the company. Ms. Akansha from HR department delivered talk on the company's HR policies. Further, Mr. Anish and Mr. Vikramjit Singh, (Software developers, bebo Technologies, Chandigarh) engaged the students discussing about latest technologies currently being utilized for project development.

TechSync: Empowering Minds through Innovations in IoT

CSI Student Chapter under the aegis Department of Computer Applications organized workshop on "TechSync: Empowering Minds through Innovations in IoT. The resource persons Dr. Naveen Kumar and Dr. Jaspreet Singh inspire attendees to be passionate about innovation and the Internet of Things (IoT). The event included hands-on activities where participants developed their coding skills for the Internet of Things and gained experience configuring and programming IoT devices. The event also included the brief introduction of various IoT microcontrollers and sensors that can be used to build various innovative projects that benefit the society at large. Participants gained a thorough understanding of IoT theory as well as practical abilities in IoT software development through an immersive experience, making them better able to innovate and create in this fast-paced industry.

TECH-A-THON

9th and 10th March,2022

The technology required by the participants were jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap, PHP and Laravel. The evaluation criteria of the event is UI/UX, responsive, dynamic, flow of code/logic and reusability of functions. The registration was free and the team size was 2 members per team. The 2 days long tech-a-thon gave participants a competitive environment to showcase their talent and enhance their skills. The students had a great experience competing with other participants. The winners will be offered with one month full time training by the company at its premises and all the participants will get participation certificates.

TECHNOVANZA

18th October, 2022 to 19th October,2022

The event's first stage consisted of a quiz where students had the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in web development. The next phase of the event was binary fetch where each team was presented with a group of technical puzzles and algorithmic clues which teams had to solve in order to find a piece of information to get final solution at the end of the hunt. The winners of this round were selected for the subsequent deployment round. Each team had 12 minutes in this round to work through the technical riddles and come up with an answer to the given problem sets. Further an expert talk on web development was organized for all the participants of the Technovanza. This session was led by Mr. Divyansh Chauhan, an expert in the field of software and web development. He explained students about front-end, back-end and full-stack web development and also discussed about his own startup and his experience working as a freelancer.

SYMPOSIUM on Recent Trends

11th May,2022

The event ushered with an expert talk by Mr. Manish Chopra. He gave a keynote address about serverless technologies and engaged with students on all of the symposium’s themes. Later, our next esteemed expert Mr. Vikram Verma demonstrated a live representation of his ongoing project and discussed about IoT technology. An interactive two hours session of engagement with the students about big data analytics, digital India and cloud computing was conducted. The experts evaluated the performances of the participants. The teams presented their work through posters. The experts discussed and interrogated the students regarding their respective research work. After the completion of the evaluation process, professor and dean Dr. Jaiteg Singh shared his words of wisdom. The respected dean felicitated the guests.

The resource person of the event was Mr. Chirag Jain who is an associate consultant at Virtusa and an alumni of CA department, Chitkara University. He explained students how useful data is extracted from big chunk of data. He also discussed the skills required for the job role and told students how Java will help them in this job. He discussed about data structures and EMA system. He also told students the difference between data mining and big data. He encouraged the students to pursue career in this field. Resource persons cleared the doubts of the students and it turned out to be a very useful and informative session qui.

Workshop on CyberSecurity

2nd April, 2022

Mr. Davinder Pal Singh, Information Security Engineer, Zscaler Pvt. Ltd., who is also a Chitkara University, Punjab MCA 2018 batch alumnus, led the session. He began the discussion by describing what cyber security is and what its implications are in India. He talked about the principles of cyber security as well as numerous career options accessible in the field. The alumni urged students to improve their skills and explained how acquiring certifications from various online learning platforms aids in the development of a strong resume. He suggested students to get IBM security certifications and courses from Udemy. Students were further explained about the whole procedure of bug hunting and reporting. Tech Enclave 2021

Under the Innovative Prototypes and Business Solutions, students put forth their innovative ideas in the form of hardware/software projects. Students also competed for Coding Predators where they solved a gaming problem through writing coding. Many Students participated in Tech Bolt quiz. The valedictory session to mark the closure of the Tech Enclave 2021 was held during the second half of the day. Dr. I. S. Sandhu, Professor& Dean, Dept. of Examinations, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Professor and Dean (PhD Program) and Dr. Jaiteg Singh, Professor & Dean, Department of Computer Applications awarded the winners of various events.

Nuances of Industrial Design

Dr. Sachin Ahuja confabulate the importance of this day and encourages all to generate and consider their ideas as an assets. He conveyed the importance of patenting and copyrighting. He also elaborated the procedure of registering the patents. He illustrated how various types of patenting can be generated. He also shown his own patents and explained how the ideas have been converted to an asset for him. Expert Talk got overwhelming response. 137 Students and faculty members including students and faculties from other universities and colleges have participated in the talk. Many participants asked their queries and cleared their doubts.

Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter, under the aegis of Department of Computer Applications, Chitkara University, Punjab, and in association with Institution’s Innovative Council (IIC) organized CODIGO on 22 May, 2021. CODIGO was debugging based online competition in which students identified bugs in the code snippet. The domain of debugging competition was C programming and Java Script. 136 students from Department of Computer Applications, Chitkara University, Punjab participated in the event. Intricacies of Java language

Ms. Nishu Bali, Associate professor, Department of Computer Applications was the resource person for the sessions. More than 50 students registered for the workshop. Participants were imparted knowledge on fundamentals of Java programming through Eclipse IDE. Participants showed very good response in the form of queries Overall it was a wonderful and learning experience for the participants.

Dive Into Python

The Webinar covered important features of PYTHON. The first part of the session included a presentation covering the Introduction to PYTHON, Basics of PYTHON, Its Features, Basic programming concepts including the data structures and other elements of PYTHON and Various constructs and concepts available in PYTHON. The Second Session was aimed at giving the participants an actual experience of how to do programming in PYTHON using the IDLE Editor (PYTHON SHELL). The participants were made familiar with the actual implementation of PYTHON using the said Editor. The session involved the discussion about one of the very prominent Object Oriented Languages i.e. PYTHON. Various other elementary topics related to this Language were also discussed. A total of about 30 participants actively participated in this WEBINAR.
